The Buckeyes earned five first-place votes in the AP poll and four first-place votes in the coaches poll.
Ohio State stayed ranked No. 2 in both major polls released today.
In the coaches poll, the Buckeyes received four first-place votes compared to 55 votes for No. 1 Alabama and trailed the Crimson Tide 1,470 total points to 1,410. The Buckeyes had the same number of first-place votes last week, but they gained 13 points overall, moving up from 1,397 points.
In the AP poll, the Buckeyes received five first-place votes compared to 52 for Alabama, one for No. 3 Boise State and one for No. 6 Texas. Last week, the Buckeyes had four first-place votes, while Alabama had 47, Boise State had eight and Texas had one. Overall, the points are off because the AP poll this week included only 59 ballots instead of 60.
Ohio State hosts Ohio University on Saturday at noon at Ohio Stadium.
After losing to Ohio State 36-24, Miami dropped from No. 12 in both polls to No. 17 in both polls.
