Three area wrestlers have advanced to this afternoon's cadet freestyle championship finals at the Cadet and Junior National Championships in Fargo, N.D.
Mike Labry (125 pounds) of Twinsburg, Tim Fox (140) of Mogadore Field, and Ty Walz (215) of St. Edward will wrestle for first place.
This is Fox's second championship bout this week in Fargo. He placed second in the Cadet Nationals Greco-Roman finals on Monday. Fox was a seventh-place finisher at the state high school tournament as a freshman this year.
Labry and Walz will face wrestlers who won Cadet Nationals Greco-Roman title on Monday.
Labry's opponent, Ben Witford of Illinois, also is a 2009 Cadet Nationals freestyle champion. Labry was 36-7 and a state qualifier as a sophomore at Twinsburg this year.
Walz was 25-14 as a sophomore at St. Edward.
Also wrestling for places in Cadet Freestyles today are Nathan Thomasello of Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy, who will wrestle for third place at 98 pounds; and Dominic Abounader of St. Edward, who is going for fifth place at 160 pounds.
