Both the Tigers and Reds are dealing with injuries at third base, but they're reportedly looking at options other than a trade for Peralta.

Clubhouse confidential: If the Tigers and Reds are looking for a third baseman, they're apparently not looking at the Indians' Jhonny Peralta.

The Tigers lost Brandon Inge for at least a month with a broken bone in his left hand after he was hit by pitch Monday against Texas. In Cincinnati, Scott Rolen has a strained right hamstring and might be headed to the disabled list. Their interest in Peralta has been minimal at best, according to sources.

Peralta isn't a stranger to them. The Tigers and Indians are divisional foes, and the Reds play the Indians in home-and-away series each season in interleague play.

Peralta is making $4.6 million this season. He has a $7 million club option for 2011 that increases to $7.250 million if he's traded. If he's not traded, he gets a $250,000 buyout.

Devil in the details: If the Indians trade Jake Westbrook this year, he'll receive $2 million via a clause in his contract. This year's salary of $11.5 million also will increase by a prorated $1 million.

The Indians still owe Westbrook an estimated $4.1 million this season. That means if they deal him, the cash involved in negotiations -- how much the Indians pay and how much Westbrook's new team takes on -- will total more than $6 million.

That could gum up the works in any deal.

FoxSports.com first reported the clauses in Westbrook's contract.

Stat of the day: The Indians' series record this season is 8-20-2.
