Brock Lesnar's come-from-behind victory over Shane Carwin Saturday night at UFC 116 is adding a bit of credibility to the man whose previous career was fake fighting.

Lesnar, a one-time champion in WWE where bouts are scripted and winners predetermined (sorry if that bursts any bubbles), withstood a massive first-round onslaught from a much more skilled mixed martial arts fighter. He came back to use a submission he had never tried in his six-fight UFC career – an arm triangle choke – in the next round to retain his heavyweight crown.
Lesnar's win raises his record to 5-1. Carwin falls to 12-1.

UFC President Dana White said Lesnar next will fight undefeated contender Cain Velasquez, who at 6-1, 240 pounds is smaller than the 6-2, 265-pound Carwin. That does not bode well for Velasquez, as Lesnar is a beast of a man who spreads 265 pounds of muscle on a 6-3 frame that seems to be totally devoid of anything resembling a neck.

No date has been set for the fight. Lesnar and his wife are expecting their second child in a couple weeks, White said, and the fight will come after that. One newspaper is reporting it is likely to top the card at UFC 119, Sept. 25 in Indianapolis.

The next big event is UFC 117, on Saturday, Aug. 7, in Oakland, Calif.
