Indians RF Shin-Soo Choo is out indefinitely because of a right-thumb injury suffered Friday night.
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Indians right fielder Shin-Soo Choo is out indefinitely because of a right-thumb injury suffered Friday night against Oakland.
Choo was scheduled for an MRI scan today.
"It feels a lot better today, but there's no timetable for his return,'' Indians manager Manny Acta said late this afternoon.
In the eighth inning of a 3-0 loss, Choo dived for a ball hit by Jack Cust. As Choo failed to secure the ball, his glove hand appeared to bend awkwardly. By the ninth inning, he was out of the game.
Choo is expected to be the Indians' lone All-Star when the reserves are announced Sunday. He is hitting .286 with 13 homers and 43 RBI in 78 games.
