If Dan Gilbert is talking to Tom Izzo, LeBron's got to know about it.
Like everyone else in Cleveland, we wonder what LeBron James will do when his contract is up this summer. Will he stay home, or follow the bright lights to Broadway? Until he decides to talk, we have to rely on hunches, instincts and educated guesswork. We'll report our findings, more or less daily, using the LeBron-O-Meter.
Well, we seem to be talking about nothing else today but Tom Izzo, the very fine Michigan State coach who has repeatedly declined interest in an NBA job but who supposedly is talking to Dan Gilbert.Whether Izzo has changed his mind, or whether he's just being polite to one of MSU's most well-heeled alums, is anybody's guess. But it's hard to imagine Gilbert, who has effectively taken control of personnel matters by letting Danny Ferry go, talking to Izzo without at least some sign of approval from LeBron.
For that reason, and because this piece suggesting LeBron wasn't being straight when he told Larry King that Cleveland has "the edge" is so unutterably stupid, we see no reason to move the 'Meter needle today.
