Kelly Pavlik may not fight again once he leaves a California rehab center, says one of his managers.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Former middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik has been receiving treatment for alcohol abuse at the Betty Ford Clinic in Rancho Mirage, Calif., since Nov. 4.

Yahoo! Sports reported Pavlik's presence at the clinic that was confirmed by his father and co-manager Mike Pavlik, co-manager Cameron Dunkin and trainer Jack Loew.

Pavlik, 28, had been scheduled to meet Brian Vera on Nov. 13 at Dallas Cowboys Stadium as part of the undercard for the Manny Pacquiao-Antonio Margarito title match. However, he pulled out on Nov. 1 citing a rib injury.

Rumors surrounding Pavlik's lifestyle in his hometown of Youngstown have been rampant for several years. However, he has always denied them and had not been involved in any public altercations involving alcohol since winning the 160-pound title on a knockout of Jermain Taylor on Sept. 29, 2007.

While he had three successful title defenses, he lost a non-title bout to veteran Bernard Hopkins in October 2008 and finally relinquished the title to Sergio Martinez in April on a unanimous decision.

During the past three years, he had several injuries that delayed and postponed matches. He dealt with a serious staph infection and suffered an elbow injury.

Dunkin said Pavlik (36-2, 32 KOs) may not fight again.
