"Oh man, I should have never had said that," Umenyiora told ESPN 1050 when asked about his advice to James. "That was a big mistake. I want LeBron James to do what is best for him."
Last month, Umenyiora weighed in on free agency topic when he advised James to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers and not join the New York Knicks.
On ESPNNewYork.com, reporter Ohm Youngmisuk writes that Umenyiora argued on his PlaymakerMobile.com blog that James shouldn't leave because while there's no better place to play than in New York, James would face intense scrutiny if he has a bad game here.
"I will say this, if he does come to New York, don't have a bad game," Umenyiora blogged. "Not one because Knicks fans will come down on him."
