The Browns take a 7-3 lead over Tampa after one quarter.
TAMPA, Fla. -- The Browns' secondary stopped points from going on the board, while a mistake by Tampa's defensive backfield helped Cleveland seize a 7-3 lead after one quarter at Raymond James Stadium.
Browns quarterback Jake Delhomme connected with Mohamed Massaquoi for a 41-yard touchdown with 2:40 remaining in the quarter to grab the early lead in the season opener.
Massaquoi soared for the wide-open catch as Buccaneers cornerback E.J. Biggers and safety Tanard Jackson both went for an interception that they missed.
One drive later, rookies T.J. Ward and Joe Haden came up with big stops on Tampa Bay's drive from the Browns' 30, breaking up two passes and forcing the Bucs to settle for a field goal.
