Pittsburgh's Ben Roethlisberger will see his first football action of the preseason on Saturday.

Pittsburgh quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will play -- maybe even start -- when the Steelers visit the new Meadowlands Stadium to play the Giants in a preseason game on Saturday, coach Mike Tomlin said in a story for the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

This after the controversial quarterback, who will begin the season on the suspended list for violating the league's personal conduct code, was held out of the Steelers' home opener at Heinz Field last week. He's going miss at least four and possibly six regular season games as punishment handed down by Commissioner Roger Goodell in the wake of two sex-related scandals. Neither case resulted in charges.

Maybe Tomlin wanted Roethlisberger to make his first start against New York because he figured, hey, if he can make it there, he can make it anywhere.

If, as expected, Roethlisberger's six-game suspension is reduced to four, the first game in which he'll be eligible to play is Week 6 of the season; the Steelers have a bye in Week 5. That Week 6 game is at Heinz Field.

Against the Browns.
